Brady Wilkes
Born and raised in the foothills of Placerville, Ca, I grew up the youngest of 5 boys and 1 sister on five acres of beautiful land.
I moved to Santa Cruz, Ca for 5 years to attend Bethany University. I earned my Bachelors in Business and played 4 years of NAIA baseball. I worked briefly in the business world and then jumped into substitute teaching and serving high school students in El Dorado County, Ca through YoungLife ministry for 7 years. In 2014, I left YoungLife and returned to school to complete my teaching credential and taught as a full-time PE teacher to elementary students for 3 years.
In 2019, I felt the call to missionary work and followed Jesus out to Kona, Hi to join the YWAM base here. Since then, I completed my DTS (Discipleship Training School) and staffed 2 years of the Fire & Fragrance DTS here in Kona. I have completed outreach trips to Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, Alaska, Mexico, and Mongolia. In every place, I have met people who radically love Jesus, and been able to joyfully share the gospel message with so many who have never heard.
Moving into 2024 I will be involved with 4 different areas of ministry, and I have shared about those below.
Jesus is beautiful, and I’m so honored to be a part of His great work in our world. He really is the answer to all the needs of the human heart.
Ministry
House Church
On Thursday afternoons we have been gathering with kids who live in the apartment complex next to our campus! Most of them have moved here from the Marshallese Islands. We get to play, worship, and teach them about Jesus! They are a lot of energy and so sweet.
Outreach
Every year I have taken a 2 month outreach trip with a team to wild places! I have had the honor of seeing God move in buddhist villages in Myanmar, Iced over towns in Alaska, the mountains of Nepal and city limits of Mexico City. What an adventure!
Jesus Clubs
On Wednesdays, we’ve been going to the the local high school campus called Kealakehe High. We have been meeting high school students and gathering with them to share about Jesus and begin to disciple them into a loving relationship with God! We are missionaries to Kona, Hi along with being missionaries to the nations!
Staff Outreaches
Beginning 2023, I will be planning and leading multiple outreach trips with staff members from YWAM Kona. We will be going to nations and people groups who are unreached with the gospel. Likely in the Middle East or Central Asia. We will go to share the light and truth of Jesus who came to save the lost!
